Les gens disent que les JRT sont hyper actif, qui arrête jamais, qu'ils ont des tetes dures, difficile a éduquer etc..., et j'entend souvent les gens dirent ils ont besoin de 2 heures d'activités par jour.........un JRT est comme toute autre race, il est pas plus fou qu'une autre race.
NON il ne sont pas hyper actif et fou et non pas besoin de 2h par jour, ils ont juste besoin d’être stimulé surtout mentalement et ne pas sur exciter votre chien physiquement et aussi etre constant dans l'activité que vous donnez a votre chien, ne pas lui donner 2 heures au début et ensuite 1/2 heure, la les problèmes vont commencer et aussi il faut surtout leur apprendre a relaxer et les renforcer quand ils ne font rien, car si vous leur donné 2 heures par jour ils vont en vouloir 3h et ainsi de suite. Apprenez lui plus tôt a relaxer et le renforcer quand il fait rien, récompenser les bon comportements et ne pas ignorer mais changer les idées du chiens quand il fait une niaiserie ne pas punir. People say JRT are hyper actif and crazy, hard to train, hard headed etc... and I ear people say they need 2 hours of exercise per day..... NON they are not hyper active or crazy, they need to be mostly stimulated mentally and physically norally not over do it, and most of all teach them to relax and reinforce when they are relaxing. If you give them 2 hours per day they will want 3h and so on. Instead teach him to relax, and reinforce when he is doing nothing. And with R+ its so easy see my videos. Reinforce good behavior and dont ignore but change the mind of the dog for bad actions. see videos

ca fait 16 ans comme éleveur www.exmoorjrt.ca que je le dis les JRT non pas la tête dure et qui sont facile a entrainer, comment tu fais pour que tes chiens restent sans bouger etc....

et j'ai enfin trouvé la réponse parfaite

Ma réponse... Et j'insiste et j'y crois (rappelez-vous que j'ai aussi entraîné des phoques, des lynx, des cougars, des poules, un chameau et un ours blanc !) :
"Il n'y a pas de chien avec la tête dure. Il y a de bons ou de mauvais entraîneurs..."

Morale: apprenez à entraîner. Ce n'est pas sorcier; c'est technique. Et ça n'a rien à voir avec la fermeté ! Rien !

been saying this for 16 years as a breeder www.exmoorjrt.ca that JRT are not head strong or hard to train, people ask me how do you make them stay like that?

My response....... I insist and I beleve it ( remember that I trained, seals, lynx, cougars and chickens, bears, and camel)

'' There is no dog that are head strong. They are just good or bad trainers......''

Moral: lern to train. Its not complicated: its technique. And it as nothing to do with fermness at all.

reinforcing calmness
This is just a day in the life of Lumos the puppy going on a socialization trip (just raw footage, not meant as a tutorial or anything). We never ask him to settle, he just does it when he wants to. Reinforcing calmness really pays off and I truly believe improves the quality of a dogs life (not to mention the quality of our lives to be around a calm dog!)

Before you train tricks to you new puppy, think carefully... What would you like your puppy "offering" to you, before you have taught him the concept that behaviors should happen only after a cue. If spin is your puppies first behavior, he might offer spinning as the response to you ignoring him, or if he is confused during training. HOWEVER, if you reinforce and train 4 strong calm behaviors first, behaviors you want your puppy to offer when confused, THAT is what you will get when your puppy does not know what to do next during a training session. For example- eye contact, laying down, settling, sitting, and standing calmly.
